Dec 01, 2009 - YOUR DAY AT AN ARENACROSS EVENT

If you are new to Arenacross, or new to a Cycle City Promotions event, then you will want to read the following information so you will know what to expect during your day (or weekend) when you race with us.

1st....
An Arenacross event is an all day event for the racer.  Gates and registration open at 9 a.m. (for Saturday events), and you can expect to be racing off and on until 10 or 10:30 that evening (provided you make it into the mains).

Registration can be handled in one of two ways.
A.  You can register online (using this website - go to the top of the home page and click on registration) which saves you $10 per class (online registration closes @ 10 p.m. the Thursday night prior to the event you are wanting to race in). Even in you register onlline, you will still be required to complete your own forms (entry form and minor release form for racers under 18).  You will need to print our your paypal receipt an attach it to your completed entry form.  We suggest you print out and complete an entry form from this website (go to the home page and click on the FORMS link.   Then you will simply go to the registration office on Saturday morning, before you practice, to check in.

B.  You can register at the event beginning @ 9 a.m. (on Saturday or 3 p.m. on Friday (for shows with Friday events), at the event facillity.  Registering at the event is $35 per class + a pit pass.

REGISTRATION IS FROM 9 A.M. UNTIL 10:30 A.M.

Once you are registered the registration staff will give you a YELLOW RACER SCHEDULE.  This is your "bible" for the day.  We strongly suggest that you read it from cover to cover.  It provides you with the times everything will begin, the practice order, the heat race order and the main race order.  It also tells you that the schedules are subject to change and that you will need to stay on top of scheduling as the day progresses.  Our schedule is tight and sometimes minor changes are necessary and it is your responsibility to be aware of any and all changes.  The YELLOW handout will also provide other important info.  Please take time to read this schedule.

NEXT UP IS PRACTICE @ 10:30 a.m.

Practice begins at 10:30 a.m.  Please refer to your yellow handout for the order.

After practice , at approximately 11:30-12:00, the heat race order will be posted at the registration office.  It is IMPERATIVE that you go to the registration office immediately after your practice (or as soon as it is posted) to check the heat order and to make sure you are listed properly (in the correct class(es) with the correct bike #). If you don't check this order and your name was accidentally left off, then you will cause delays and frustrationn when you show up to the staging area and your name isn't on the list to race.  Many problems can be alleviated if EVERYONE would follow this one procedure. We are generally entering 400-500 entries in a short amount of time and mistakes will be made.  If you find an error, please report it to the office staff immediately.

Mandatory Riders Meeting-immediately after practice is over

THEN COMES THE HEAT RACES @ 1:30 p.m.:

Heat races are at 1:30 p.m.  Please refer to your yellow handout for the order.
Heat races will either determine your start position for the main event OR it will determine who goes directly to the main and who will have to qualify thru a last chance qualifier (LCQ's).
For example:  Our starting gate usually holds approximately 14 bikes.  If your class has 14 or less racers, then everyone will automatically be able to race in the main event.  If that's the case, then your heat race will be to determine your start position for the main.  If you finish first in your heat, then you get 1st gate choice, etc.
If your class has 15 or more racers, then we will divide the heat into 2 heats.  We will then take the 1st thru 6th place finishers from each heat to go directly to the main.  The last few racers (not in the top 6) of each heat will have to race in the LCQ (immediately after all heats are completed) to see who gets to go onto the main.  Typically it will be the top 2  finishers(if there is only 1 LCQ) . These numbers all examples and cannot be relied upon to be the exact format we will use.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR HEAT :
This step is just as important as checking the initial heat race order to make sure you are listed correctly.....
After your heat race, you MUST check the heat race results (posted at the registration office).  Again, mistakes can happen, and if  you aren't scored correctly but you don't check and alert us to that fact, then we assume everything is correct and we prepare for the mains with everything as is.  If you show up at the main gate and aren't listed to race in the mains because we showed that you were last in your heat and should have raced in the LCQ but didn't, and you think you got 4th in your heat and should have automatically gone to the mains, then there is no time to research it and make corrections if necessary.  You will miss out on racing in the mains.  If you will just make sure that your heat result is listed correctly, then you won't have to worry about missing your main.  Again, there are several hundred entries and we assume that everything is correct unless you inform us otherwise.  Please make sure you follow this step.

LAST CHANCE QUALIFIERS:
Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ's) are for the classes that have too many racers entered and we have to eliminate some.  LCQ's are run immediately after the heats are all completed (at most events).
When you check the heat race results, if you see that your name is not listed as going directly to the main, then you will need to prepare to race in the LCQ immediately after all heats are finished.  We usually run the LCQ's in the same order the classes ran during the heats.  When your LCQ is finished, again, check the registration office for the LCQ RESULTS.  You will see if you made it on to the main or not.

PRO PRACTICE & PIT BIKE PRACTICE @ 5:00 P.M.
